How it works…

Throughout all VoiceCertain products, voice identity authentication involves a one-time enrollment process and an on-going authentication process.

At the center of enrollment and authentication is the VoicePrint identity profile™, a unique biometric representation of each user’s voice. Since the profile is created when a user speaks responses to challenge information, this security key is variable in length, thereby strengthening the overall security use of the profile. Even after a person has enrolled, adding to or changing some of the challenge information to enhance the VoicePrint identity profile can further tighten security.

Enrollment

Enrollment is the process for creating a person’s VoicePrint identity profile, which usually takes less than a minute. To enroll, a user calls the system and is presented with different identity challenge information. Biometric measurements of your voice speaking the responses to these challenges are used for generating and finally creating your unique VoicePrint identity profile.

The identity challenge information used in creating the VoicePrint identity profile is specifically tailored to meet your requirements and can change over time. For example, in using diffenent challenge information, with each authentication a user goes through, the specific challenge information could be selected at random. VoiceCertain’s multi-dimensional approach further ensures your security requirements are met by looking a other types of information, such as ANI, in background procedure that does not require a user response.

Authentication

Authentication is the process an individual goes through to authenticate who they are based upon their voiceprint identifiers. The authentication process uses the caller’s spoken response to challenge questions and compares it against the stored VoicePrint identity profile. In addition, other criteria may be used in the authentication process, such as validating ANI information, checking a user’s status with an identity management system, etc.. If authenticated the individual can precede, such as in remote access to the network or resetting a password, otherwise they are transferred for further assistance.

Each time a user is authenticated, VoiceCertain’s VoicePrint Optimizer™ is re-calibrating the VoicePrint identity profile, adjusting the system to take into account varying telephony signaling strengths encountered from the using different types of telephones along with filtering out background noise. This automatic fine-tuning of the system ensures the utmost in accuracy in identity authentication.
